in the embers of soft gentle slumber
i stumble into the arms
of another
deftly diminishing
memories led astray
i forgot you
frozen stillness
suffocated sounds
unveiled the path
my feet to tread
further and farther
past night’s remembrance
and the face of your image
‘til the road behind
vanished
a putrid scent
awashed
all traces of recollection
vast into the unknown’s
bosom the road before me
secured
leeching and pressing
my way was made
oblique
the past erased yet
remorse awakes
i have lost my way
there is no solace for
the forsaken
i lost you in slumber
and awoke to another
