we travel highways
we pause and
sip iced tea
we laze on sofas
and watch TV.

In summer’s fervent swelter
we refuge indoors
we boil pasta and
savor sweet cream
we laze on sofas
and dream.

In autumn’s colored calm
we dust off baking tins
we package cookies and
drink strong coffee
we laze on sofas
and enjoy one’s company.

In winter’s sharp brisk
we bundle
we wrap scarves and
light sweet candles
we laze on sofas
and contemplate tomorrows
